An Introduction to Acting.
I signed up for an introductory acting class which started last week. Its actually quite a challenge for me given my typically reserved nature, but I’m open to ways of improving my art. After all, “an animator is an actor with a pencil” so goes the saying, right? Anyway, the course is eight sessions long, two evenings per week. There’s quite a lot of stuff covered each lesson, and we run through a few exercises during those few hours, judging by how the pace has been set so far. I gotta admit I really enjoyed that first lesson, but had to miss the second due to a major virus outbreak at home. Hopefully I’ll be back for the next one on Monday. There’s also quite a bit of homework to be done between classes, and I’m already falling behind. OK that’s it for now. I’m off to pick an animal and write about it in my actor’s journal!
Wow! Acting class…though I really can’t see how it’s going to value-add to your already nimble fingers. It must have taken a lot of courage to want to burn a hole in your pocket on such an arty farty stuff. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it. I visit your website from time to time. Forgive me but I prefer looking at your writing first before I ‘ogle’ your sketches. They are nice to read. Are you sure you are the reserved sort? Maybe you think you are but from the looks of it, nay, I don’t think so. Good luck and keep the words (and the sketches) rolling!
Heyas foveal! At least I know someone else is reading and checking out my stuff besides myself. Glad to hear you enjoy my writing too. I know what you mean about burning a hole in the pocket. Some of these courses can be super expensive. As for value-add, it’s more to help with my character animation than sketching really. Right now, it’s a bit of a stretch to adapt what I’m learning though. This acting course is even more primal and deep than I thought it would be. I’ve just been completely clueless about the whole acting process I suppose. It definitely seemed like I underestimated what I would be in for! Anyway, I’ll likely cover more about my experience in my blog before it’s all over. Thanks for your kind words and do keep visiting!
Thanks for replying. I’m sure there are more people out there who have taken notice of your website but not everybody is free enough to even bother to pen a word or two to complement the things that you do. And let me qualify myself. When I said that I prefer to read what you write first, I don’t mean that your sketches and others are not as good. They are fantastic, really. Just thought I’d tell you this before you think I was trying to be rude with my comments haha. Yeah, I think it’s great that you are pursuing something that you really have passion for. You go, man!
As what david ackert once said, “Actors are willing to give their entire lives to a moment–to that line, that laugh, that gesture, or that interpretation that will stir the audience’s soul.”
Im pretty sure you’re gonna enjoy it. It’s nice to hear that you’re enrolled in one.
