The Group Project Begins!

Alright boys and girls. The projects have been selected and groups have been formed. Completing it will take up most (if not all) of our waking hours this term I suspect. And that's besides the other 2 assignments looming in the horizon. Despite some interest in my proposal, I've decided to put it on hold and join another group. This means I won't be uploading my original concept here since I just might want to reserve that project for later. Sorry peeps! I will post the character design I did for my friend though. He did some amendments to it afterwards anyway so it should be pretty safe. In case you're wondering, I didn't have any profound reasons for 'abandoning' my proposal, other than the fact that the story idea and possible look of the other project appealed to me even more. It's basically a short little 3D animation about a playful cat. I'm hoping to do some decent animation in it - apart from conceptualizing, modelling, etc. I've actually set up a production log where I'll upload bits and pieces of the project in an attempt to trace the entire development process. You can find it here. It's a bit plain and rough around the edges but at least it's a start. Of course, that most likely means I won't be hanging around this page much since I'll be devoting whatever is left of my free time to updating the other one. Regardless, I'm definitely stoked about the whole thing at the moment. We'll see how I feel about it come early March (when it's due) eh?
I hope you check it out! And give feedback, OK? See ya laters!

CDS581:"Shehrayar the Murderous King"

How can I resist submitting an entry? Coincidentally, my animation coursemate asked me to do a character design of a warrior king yesterday (I'm kinda proud of my pencil sketch so I'll upload it soon after a bit of tweaking). It's for an upcoming group project proposal presentation. I've done another character for my own proposal which I'll also be uploading here afterwards as well. Stay tuned! In the meanwhile, enjoy this completely digital sketch:

A Little Taste of the Middle East.

We treated ourselves to a decent dinner with friends at a nearby Middle Eastern restaurant earlier today. Bedouin restaurant serves Tunisian and Moorish dishes. It was a little smoky (there doesn't seem to be a no-smoking policy there) but otherwise it was a pleasant experience. The food was tasty and not spicy at all. The waitress was very friendly, and the prices wasn't as bad as I thought they would be. Definitely a change from take-away kebabs.
Now, in keeping with the theme, here's today's CGTalk Daily Sketch entry:

The End of The Year Post.

I don't do countdowns. I don't do new year resolutions. I don't make it a point to celebrate the coming year - call me indifferent. I like the retrospective element of it all though. Where you look back at the highs and lows and (hopefully) learn from mistakes made.
CDS574: "New Year's Eve"For me, the highest point would be my embarking on a year-long postgraduate course here in the UK in September. The lowest point is obvious - the passing of my beloved father in January. Of course, we should try to be introspective in addition to retrospective all year round really. Anyway, let's hope 2006 brings more joy than sorrow to everyone regardless of race, language or religion eh?

Hello World! I'm Still Around. Kinda...

It's the middle of term break right now. I had to submit 3 assignments in the last weeks of term so that explains away the lack of activity in the rest of November and early December. Right after that, it was a case of recuperating for awhile. Since then, I've been spending some quality time with my family. Come to think of it I have no good excuses not to blog really. I just haven't had the mad urge I suppose. That, and I've been a little too engrossed in my *ehem* game research (Guild Wars is a preeeetty cool rpg btw). I'll put up a more decent update on my adventures soon. I've been tinkering (again) with another tool that I've installed on the server for my blogs. As I recall, some people have had problems accessing my blogs from Blogger so maybe this will solve it. That's if I can get it working. And the gallery needs a simpler design maybe. Yup. Look for another mini-revamp coming your way my friends! As if I don't have enough madness on my plate (re: some term break homework).

So for better or worse, you haven't heard the last from me yet!
PS: For those celebrating Christmas and the coming new year - have a good one and keep safe alright?

Edit: As you can see I've migrated (slowly) over to this blogging tool and format. Bear with me for awhile as I fine-tune the whole site ok? For those who still want to read on my past ramblings (or just miss the old look) just open up my previous blogs. Mind you, unless something drastic happens to this new blog setup, I won't be updating over there anymore. OK. Tell all your friends!

Welcome to the world of Nucleus CMS.

In 2001 a set of PHP scripts were let loose on the open Internet. Those scripts, which took user-generated data and used it to dynamically create html pages, contained the ideas and the algorithms that are the core of today’s Nucleus CMS. Though Nucleus CMS 3.2 is far more flexible and powerful than the scripts from which it emerged, it still expresses the values that guided its birth: flexibility, security, and computational elegance.

Thanks to an international community of sophisticated developers and designers, Nucleus CMS remains simple enough for anyone to learn, and expandable enough to allow you to build almost any website you can imagine. Nucleus CMS lets you integrate text, images, and user comments in a seamless package that will make your web presence as serious, professional, personal, or fun as you want it to be.

We hope you enjoy its power.
